As you may know, I am a candidate for the Ramapo Indian Hills Board of Education. Professionally, I have been a lawyer for over 15 years. It has come to my attention that a "Letter of Admonition" issued on May 26, 2020, regarding a 2016 complaint that was filed when I worked as an associate at a prior law firm has become a campaign issue. Although the circumstances surrounding this have been misconstrued on social media, the facts are simple:
- This is the only complaint filed against me in over 15 years as an attorney It represents less than .005% of my cases, given that I've had 1 complaint in over 2,000 cases. It occurred because the prior law firm that I worked at was seriously understaffed, and a deadline was missed.
- Due to a lack of proper support, I left that firm voluntarily and, as a result, began my own law firm.
- I personally made the client whole and amicably resolved the matter with the client.
- I have had zero complaints since I began my firm in 2017 through present day.
- Since then, I have represented a plethora of public entities in various roles, including the Boroughs of Bogota, Dumont, Englewood Cliffs, North Arlington, and Ramsey.
- This includes having served as the Borough of Bogota Municipal Judge having been cleared by the New Jersey Supreme Court to be able to do so.
- I am also a member of the New Jersey Bar, the New Jersey Federal Court Bar, the Bar of the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States of America without any restrictions or issues whatsoever.
The letter of Admonition is the lowest level of action on an Attorney Ethics complaint. It is something that I took and take seriously and have learned from. It did not affect my ability to serve well all of the municipalities listed above in a professional role, and it won't affect my ability to serve Wyckoff as a member of the Ramapo Indian Hills School Board.
Personally, I am a husband, a father of 3, an Eagle Scout, a Cub Scout volunteer, a soccer coach, and a member of a local church, and I take ethics with the utmost level of seriousness and sincerity.
